WARNING: I am venting about a co-worker of mine

Who here has an annoying coworker that you work with daily? Please raise your hand, if you could visualize me, being in front of you right now, you would definitely see my hand raised high up in the air.

I’m pretty good, I mean I try to get along with everyone I work with, no matter who it is, but this annoying coworker is starting to get on my everlasting freaking nerves!

While talking to my girlfriend the other day about it, we all seem to have a crazy coworker, that we unfortunately have to work with everyday, she has to deal with a crazy pants where she works. I really feel sorry for her.

This guy that I work with, went to another shift for a while, it was such a relief, never been so relieved before when he switched shifts, but he’s back.

Some of the things that really get on my nerves is, when he decides to do something without telling me that we are allowed to do this or that, that happened last week, he decides to do this, and not tell me anything about it, he seems to like leaving me in the dark about things.

Yesterday in a matter of fact, I asked him, “I noticed in activity that you had a discussion with our supervisor about a program we use on the computer, what was the discussion about, what were the issues with the program?” His response was, “I have no idea, I didn’t write it down.” I asked again, “So why was this thing, this discussion written down?” His response was, “Talk to your immediate supervisor.” My reaction was, under my breath, wtf? Why can’t you just tell me what it was about, instead of making me ask our supervisor. Of course later on I ask my supervisor about it, he tells me that my coworker knows exactly what they were talking about, that he was lying etc. So I asked him, what happened? He ended up telling me everything that was said between the two, hmm, why couldn’t my annoying coworker tell me straight off the bat?

Then there are other things that go along with him, I may ask him to do something that would help me out, his response would be, ok, or maybe or something along those lines, and instead of doing what I asked, he would clearly ignore what I would say.

So when he is at work, he thinks that he is doing a good job, but I can definitely see that he is not a team player at all. He tries to be independent, sometimes he acts like he is still a supervisor, he used to be a while ago, but couldn’t handle it and stepped down.

Just trying to talk to him about anything, he may respond back when one sentence, then the conversation is over…he’s just not a talker at all.

From what I can tell, and other coworkers of mine. We know he has a major personality disorder. So anything that he does or doesn’t do, we just blame on the personality disorder, there is nothing else much to it then that.

It just makes it so much harder to work with him, with his personality disorder, I’ve been so helpful toward him, but I don’t get anything in return. I’m thinking from now on, if he asks me any questions, etc
I’ll start responding to him, saying go talk to your immediate supervisor. See how he likes it? I sure don’t enjoy it, when he says that.

So I just don’t know what I’m going to do with him, being nice to him, just doesn’t cut it. From now on, I guess I’ll have to record every incident between me and him, nothing else I can really do.

I certainly would have raised my hand too! Co-workers can be a blessing or a curse. Poor management only tends to make this matter worse – either because they allow the behavior or don’t have the management skills to adjust the situation. That being, of course, that management is aware of the issue. I have found through years of working that in this event it is best to keep your head down and do your job to the very best of your ability. Cream will rise to the top, and you will too! Sometimes it takes time. Patience and endurance is crucial.

  2. Dude, the GF is totally right. There’s one at every job, no matter where you work. At least one.
